University of Colorado Freshman Design Project, Boulder, Colorado. Worked with a team to design and build a saddle for riding horses that could support a child with disabilities. Brainstormed a product that would promote independence and build core strength so the child could ride on his own. The biggest factor considered in the design was personal safety. The design included flexible rods that served a dual purpose: they could break away in case of emergency, but also provide the movement necessary to build core strength. The device had straps so it could attach to any saddle, and comfortable arm rests with handles for support. Authored a final report and assisted with a final presentation to reveal the finished product.
